How do I set up 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Tilt?
Choose Authenticator App or SMS — set up 2FA once and Tilt will ask for a code every login after that.
Quick answer
Tilt offers two 2FA options: an Authenticator App (Google Authenticator, Authy, Duo, etc.) or SMS text codes. You'll be prompted to set this up the first time you log in.
Who this applies to / Prerequisites
- You log into Tilt with email and password (not enforced SSO).
- If using SMS, the phone number in your Tilt profile must be a mobile line, not a landline.
Steps
- Log into Tilt with your email and password.
- When Tilt prompts you to set up 2FA, choose Authenticator App or SMS.
- Authenticator App: open the app, scan the QR code Tilt shows, then enter the 6-digit code to confirm.
- SMS: confirm the mobile number Tilt shows, then enter the code sent by text.
- Save. From now on, Tilt will ask for a 2FA code when you login.
What if it doesn't work
- Not receiving your SMS code? Check your phone's messaging app for a Spam, Junk, or Unknown Senders folder. Newer phones (iPhone, Google Pixel, Samsung) often route texts from unknown numbers to a separate folder without showing a notification. The code may already be there — you just have to look.
- Wrong phone number in Tilt? Contact Tilt Support to update it.
- Authenticator App code rejected? Make sure your phone's clock is set to sync automatically. Authenticator codes are time-based and stop working if the clock drifts.
Limits and exceptions
- 2FA requires a mobile number, not a landline.
