My company is moving from SFTP to the Workday API — what do I need to know?
Switching from SFTP to the Workday API? Turn off SFTP first to avoid duplicate employee records.
The Workday API sends Tilt the same employee data as your SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) feed does today, except benefit enrollments — so turn off SFTP before you turn on the API to avoid duplicate employees.
Who this applies to
- Companies currently sending Tilt employee data through SFTP that are switching to the Workday API integration.
Prerequisites
- Your company currently uses SFTP to send employee data to Tilt.
- You're ready to switch to the Workday API integration.
Steps
- Turn off your existing SFTP feed before enabling the Workday API integration.
- Confirm every employee already in Tilt has a work email address on file. This prevents Tilt from creating duplicate user records once the Workday API starts sending data.
- Enable the Workday API integration.
What if it doesn't work
- If duplicate employees appear after the switch, check whether those employees were missing a work email address beforehand.
- Contact Tilt Support if duplicates show up even after following these steps.
Limits and exceptions
- The Workday API integration doesn't send benefit enrollment data in this first version (V1). If you need that data in Tilt, contact Tilt Support to talk through your options.
- Don't run SFTP and the Workday API integration at the same time — doing so creates duplicate employee records.
