What do the document statuses in Tilt mean?
From Waiting on Employee to Accepted — what each document status means and what happens next.
Quick answer
Every document on your leave plan shows a status label that tells you where it is in the review process — whether Tilt is waiting on you, whether your Leave Specialist is reviewing it, or whether it's been accepted. Here's what each status means so you know what to expect.
Who this applies to / Prerequisites
- You are an employee at a Tilt customer.
- You have an active leave plan in Tilt with one or more documents.
Steps
- Log into Tilt and open your leave plan from My Leaves.
- Click Documents.
- Look at the status label on each document card. Reference the list below to understand what each one means.

|
Status |
What it means |
|
Waiting on Employee |
Tilt is waiting for you to review, upload, or fill out this document. |
|
Completed |
You've uploaded or reviewed the document, and the matching step on your leave plan is done. |
|
Viewed |
You've reviewed a document Tilt generated for you (like the FMLA Rights and Responsibilities Notice). |
|
Under Review |
You've uploaded a document (like a Medical Certification) and your Leave Specialist is reviewing it. |
|
Accepted |
Your document has been accepted and can be considered for benefit determination. |
|
Not Accepted |
Your document wasn't accepted for benefit determination. You may be asked to resubmit. |
|
Canceled |
The document is still valid but is no longer required for your leave. |
What if it doesn't work
- If a document is stuck in Under Review for a long time, contact your Leave Specialist for an update.
- If a document shows Not Accepted, review the details with your Leave Specialist. They can tell you what needs to change before you resubmit — use Upload Another File to submit the corrected version.
- If a status doesn't update after you take action (for example, you uploaded a file but the status still shows Waiting on Employee), refresh the page. If it doesn't update, contact Tilt Support.
Limits and exceptions
- Document statuses refer to individual documents. They are separate from the status of your leave plan overall.
- Not every document goes through every status. Only documents that require review (like Medical Certifications) show Under Review, Accepted, or Not Accepted.
- Canceled does not mean the document was rejected — it means the document is no longer required.
