What employee data does Rippling share with Tilt?
Rippling feeds Tilt the employee basics — profile, job, and benefits data, always synced from Rippling's side.
Rippling automatically sends employee profile, job, and benefits information to Tilt, which Tilt uses to create user accounts, manage single sign-on (SSO), and pre-fill parts of the leave request form.
Who this applies to / Prerequisites
- HR users with the Rippling Integration installed on their Tilt account
- Applies to employees managed as regular employees in Rippling — not contractors (see Limits below)
Steps
- Rippling pushes the following employee data to Tilt automatically — you don't enter it manually: Name, Work Email, Personal Email, Phone Number, Manager's Name, Manager's Email, Manager's Phone Number, Location (state), Hire Date, Job Title, Exemption Status, Job Classification, Pay Rate, Pay Frequency, enrollment in Short-Term Disability, enrollment in Long-Term Disability, enrollment in Medical Benefits, hours worked in the last 12 months, Pay Schedule, and Pay History.
- Tilt uses this data to create the employee's Tilt user account and manage Rippling SSO login.
- Tilt uses Work Email specifically to match and identify the same person across both systems — the work email must match exactly in Rippling and Tilt, or SSO and account matching can fail.
- Tilt auto-populates some of these fields on the leave submission form when someone requests leave, and uses the benefits fields to determine benefit eligibility.
- If any of this information is wrong, update it in Rippling, not Tilt. Rippling is the source of truth — any manual edit you make in Tilt gets overwritten the next time data syncs.
What if it doesn't work
- Employees can't log in with SSO? Confirm the work email matches exactly between Rippling and Tilt — a mismatch is the most common cause.
- You edited a field in Tilt and it reverted? That's expected. Rippling is the source of truth for employee data — make the change there instead.
- A contractor says they can't access Tilt? See Limits below — Tilt can't create standard accounts for contractors, so this isn't a bug.
Limits and exceptions
- Tilt cannot create user accounts for anyone marked as a contractor in Rippling.
- To give a contractor HR or Payroll access in Tilt, add a tag to their email address (for example, contractor+temp@domain.com) to manually create a Tilt account for them. They'll log in with an email and password — they can't use Rippling SSO.
- Any manual edits made in Tilt to the fields above are overwritten on the next sync. Rippling always wins.
