What happens after I submit an employee's leave request to Tilt?

You've submitted your part — here's what happens next, from employee notification to a finished plan.

Quick answer

Tilt notifies the employee to complete their portion of the survey. Once both portions are submitted, a Leave Specialist reviews the information and builds the employee's customized leave plan.

Who this applies to / Prerequisites

  • You have submitted the HR portion of a leave request for an employee.

Steps

  1. If the employee is a new user: they receive an email inviting them to set up their Tilt account and complete their portion of the survey.
  2. If the employee already has a Tilt account: they receive a notification prompting them to complete their portion.
  3. Once both portions are submitted, a Leave Specialist is assigned to the case.
  4. The Leave Specialist reviews all information and builds the employee's customized leave plan.
  5. When the plan is ready, both you (HR) and the employee receive notifications.

What if it doesn't work

  • If the employee hasn't completed their portion after 7 days, see What happens if my employee doesn't complete their portion of the leave request?
  • If you never receive a "leave plan ready" notification, check your spam folder or reach out to the Leave Specialist assigned to the case.

Limits and exceptions

  • The turnaround to build a leave plan depends on how quickly both HR and the employee complete their portions of the survey.
  • The employee can adjust some fields (like Leave Plan Duration and dates) when they complete their portion, even after HR submits.
