What other Washington leave laws does Tilt support?
Additional coverage for Washington's less common leave situations
Quick answer
Beyond WA PFML, Tilt supports several less-common Washington leave laws, including Emergency Services Leave, Domestic Violence Leave, Jury Duty Leave, Military Leave, Deployed Military Spouse Leave, and Crime Witness/Victim Leave. These are customized on a case-by-case basis since the type and amount of support needed can vary.
Who this applies to / Prerequisites
- Employers and employees in Washington covered by one of the laws listed below.
Key facts
- Emergency Services Leave: Covered employers must provide unpaid leave during an emergency for eligible volunteer firefighters, reserve officers, or civil air patrol members.
- Domestic Violence Leave: Covered employers must provide a reasonable amount of unpaid leave for eligible employees, or their family members, who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or hate crimes.
- Jury Duty Leave: Covered employers must provide sufficient unpaid leave for eligible employees to perform jury service.
- Military Leave: Covered employers must provide a reasonable amount of unpaid leave for eligible employees during their military service.
- Deployed Military Spouse Leave: Covered employers must provide 15 days of unpaid leave per deployment for eligible employees, available after the military spouse has been notified of an impending call or order to active duty and before deployment, or when the spouse is on leave from deployment.
- Crime Witness/Victim Leave: Covered employers may be obligated to provide unpaid leave for eligible employees who are crime victims or witnesses to attend certain court hearings.
What if it doesn't work
- I need more detail on one of these laws: Reach out to your Tilt contact for more information.
- I'd prefer to manage one of these leaves in-house: Some employers choose to handle these internally, especially for sensitive situations — contact your Tilt contact to discuss.
- If none of these apply, contact your Leave Success Manager (employees) or Customer Success Manager (HR teams).
Limits and exceptions
- These laws generally apply to private employers; public/state employers may face additional or different requirements.
- All laws listed here provide unpaid leave.
- Crime Witness/Victim Leave is conditional — coverage depends on the specific circumstances of the court hearing.
