Why is Tilt showing an error when it tries to pull pay calendars from Workday?

Seeing a pay calendar error? If you don't run payroll through Workday, that's expected — not a broken integration.

This error is expected if your company doesn't use Workday for payroll — it doesn't mean the integration is broken.

Who this applies to / Prerequisites

  • Companies that use Workday for HR/staffing but use a different system (or no system) for payroll.
  • Applies only after the Workday integration is already connected in Tilt.

Steps

There's nothing to fix. To confirm this is expected behavior rather than a real problem:

  1. Check whether your company processes payroll through Workday or through a separate payroll system.
  2. If payroll runs outside Workday, this error is normal. No further action is needed.
  3. If payroll does run through Workday and you're still seeing this error, treat it as a real issue and contact Tilt Support.

What if it doesn't work

  • If you do use Workday for payroll and still see this error, contact Tilt Support — this indicates a permissions or configuration issue, not expected behavior.
  • Double-check the permissions listed in "What permissions does Tilt's Integration System User need in Workday?" — missing payroll-related permissions can also cause ingestion errors even when you do use Workday for payroll.

Limits and exceptions

  • Tilt can't create pay calendars through the Workday integration if you don't use Workday for payroll. This isn't configurable — you'd need to use Workday for payroll for this specific feature to work.
  • All other integration functionality (employee data, staffing, time off, etc.) continues to work normally even when this error appears.
