Will my employees lose access to Tilt if they're on leave and I use Azure SSO?

On leave and locked out? If Azure SSO is enforced, Azure access controls Tilt access too — here's what to know.

Yes — once Azure single sign-on (SSO) is turned on, Tilt login access is tied directly to each employee's Azure account. Revoking or suspending their Azure access while they're on leave locks them out of Tilt too.

Who this applies to

  • Your company has Azure SSO turned on (enforced) for Tilt logins.
  • Any employee whose Azure account access changes while they have an active leave case in Tilt.
  • This doesn't apply if your company hasn't turned on Azure SSO — those employees keep their regular Tilt login and password.

Steps

  1. Before you revoke or suspend an employee's Azure account, check whether they still need to log into Tilt — for example, to check their Leave Balances or review Pay Calculation details while on leave.
  2. If they still need access, keep their Azure account active until their leave ends or they no longer need to log in.
  3. If you've already revoked Azure access and the employee needs to get back into Tilt, restore their Azure account access. Because Tilt login follows Azure directly, this restores their Tilt access too.
  4. If you're unsure whether to keep an employee's Azure access active during their leave, contact Tilt Support for guidance.

What if it doesn't work

  • If an employee on leave says they can't log into Tilt, check their Azure account status first. Tilt can't grant login access independently of Azure once SSO is enforced.
  • If Azure shows the account as active but the employee still can't log in, contact your internal IT team or Azure support. Tilt can't troubleshoot Azure-side account or configuration issues.
  • If you need the employee to have Tilt access without restoring full Azure access, contact Tilt Support to ask about your options.

Limits and exceptions

  • Tilt can't grant an employee login access independently of Azure once SSO is enforced. There's no separate Tilt password to fall back on.
  • This only affects companies with Azure SSO enforced. Without it, leave status doesn't change how an employee logs into Tilt.
  • Turning off SSO enforcement for one employee, rather than restoring their Azure access, isn't covered here — see the related question below.
